District Heating

Far West is a socially engaged organisation and — as we indicated before — we take our responsibility with regard to the environment. We know that drastic measures are necessary in the building industry to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

This is why we have opted for the large-scale application of district heating in our new developments, using residual heat from the city’s waste incinerator to provide houses with hot water and heating. This heat is distributed via a network of pipes that originates from the city’s Waste and Energy Company (Afval Energie Bedrijf — AEB), rendering boilers in kitchens and attics redundant. The system supplies low-carbon heat to all of our new projects. More than 6,000 dwellings will cut down their carbon dioxide emission by 50%!

Besides this, we strive to connect as many renovated units as technically possible to district heating.
