Far West is the commissioner of more than one third of all urban regeneration projects in Amsterdam Nieuw West, collaborating closely with the district councils, property developers and housing associations in the area’s twelve districts.
Regeneration projects like these often have a great impact on residents. They are subjected to major changes; in most cases they are compelled to move house — permanently or on a temporary basis. Far West takes residents’ concerns very seriously and we put considerable effort into including them in the project from the very first stages. They are continuously informed through letters and meetings, receive detailed information about the renovation of their dwellings, and are guided through the entire process of relocation by professional counsellors. When completion is at hand, particular attention is given to certain social aspects and interactions between neighbours. Far West also takes part in the organisation of events that increase the viability of vibrant neighbourhoods and livable buildings, such as tenant days.
