Far West was established in the year 2000 as a housing association with a special mission: to initiate and coordinate the revitalisation of Amsterdam’s 'Westelijke Tuinsteden' (the western postwar neighbourhoods). It now manages the area’s real estate portfolios on behalf of three founding fathers, housing associations De Key, Stadgenoot and Rochdale.

As the proprietor of more than 10,000 dwellings plus 1,000 business accommodations, Far West plays a key role in the area’s redevelopment. It participates in one third of all urban regeneration projects in Nieuw West, working together with district councils, property developers and housing associations. These parties have all joined forces in the revitalisation of neighbourhoods and communities.

In order to diversify the current housing stock in Nieuw West, Far West aims at building and renovating residential units. Also, it is involved in the selling of housing units and the coordination of various logistic aspects that are brought about by these projects.
